Is DBT Right for You?

DBT originally was developed by Marsha Linehan, PhD, for the treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder.  DBT is now being used in the treatment of depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance use disorders and issues related to difficulty regulating emotions.

DBT might be appropriate for you if you experience any of the following:
  • Overwhelming feelings of anger, sadness or anxiety that interfere with your ability to function at home or at work.
  • Problems developing and sustaining stable, satisfying relationships.
  • Frequent interpersonal conflict.
  • Suicidal thoughts and urges.
  • Urges to engage in or actions that are self-injurious. These might include cutting, abuse of substances or risky sexual behavior.
  • Feelings of shame and self-hatred.
  • Chronic feelings of hopelessness or emptiness.
  • Ruminative thoughts that make it difficult to enjoy life.
